Adrian Gonzalez was already a wealthy man before coming to Boston. But when he signed his contract with the Red Sox in April 2011, he became mega-rich!
His deal was good for $154 million over seven years. In 2012 alone, Adrian will earn an average of $129,629 per game. That’s more than many people make in several years. And he makes it every game! In other words, Adrian could buy all the toys and electronics he could ever want.
Despite his enormous wealth, Adrian has the right attitude about money.
“Nothing is mine. Everything is God’s,” he says. “No matter what you do, no matter what you obtain, it’s all earthly, it’s not godly. So all this stuff, it’s great and it helps to live a comfortable life, but at the end of the day, you’re not taking any of that with you. When you pass away, God’s not going to say, ‘Oh, that’s a great [baseball] contract you acquired.’ He’s going to say, ‘Because of Me, you had that contract . . . so what did you do with it?’ There’s nothing I’ve obtained or done that hasn’t been because of Christ.”
Now, that’s a priceless thought!
