Gluten-Free Bakery. Some people have special diets that don’t allow them to eat normal bread, brownies or cookies. Look up gluten-free recipes online or in specialty cookbooks and practice baking. Ask around your neighborhood or church to meet potential customers.
Local News. Put together a neighborhood newsletter, either weekly or monthly. Promote upcoming events (sports, concerts, movies). Talk to local schools and churches to find fun stories. Take lots of photos. Keep it small, 2 to 4 pages.
School Store. Buy small bags of chips or candy in bulk at the store. Then sell your snacks to kids in the lunchroom. (Check your school handbook first.) Keep your prices low; a few pennies’ profit per sale will add up quickly.
Personalized Cards. Make and decorate cards for special occasions. Many adults give cards at Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, graduations and weddings. Work ahead, and only sell your best designs.
Backyard Camp. Team up with a few friends this summer and run a week-long, mornings-only camp for preschool kids. Plan outdoor games, crafts and snacks. Perform puppet shows or tell stories. Most of all, make sure everyone has fun!
Lemonade Plus. Sell cold drinks on a hot day. Make your lemonade from scratch (it tastes better). Sell other drinks, too, such as bottled water or fruit punch. Set up a table near a park, where lots of people walk past.
Jewelry Designer. Make simple jewelry, such as necklaces or bracelets. Search online for ideas and design tips. Wear what you make—you could start a positive trend at school!
Garage Sale. With your parents’ permission, find old items in your house to sell. Consider teaming up with your neighbors to hold a block-wide sale! Have nothing to sell? Set up a pet-washing station or a bike-fixing stand (inflate/patch tires, grease chains, wash the frame, etc.)
