Did November’s code cause you stress? Here it is again:

Matthew's Decoder #2017-11

How It Works

To solve this code, you must think like Shakespeare.

Syllables can be either hard or soft. In the word betray, “tray” is stressed as a hard syllable. On the other hand, you emphasize the “break” in breakfast, making “fast” a soft syllable.

Shakespeare had a gift for writing patterns of hard and soft syllables in his plays. For example: “But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?”

You see the same technique in old hymns: “Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.”

For each word in this code, cross out the hard (or emphasized) syllable. Think carefully—the pattern can change from word to word. You may want to consult a dictionary. Once you finish, read the remaining letters from left to right.
