Maria Anne Hirschmann (“Hansi”) is the author of several books; including her bestselling autobiography: Hansi, the Girl Who Left the Swastika. The book sold more than 400,000 copies in the English language and has been translated into many other languages. Hansi taught for several years in American schools, drawing recognition for her work with troubled teenagers. She eventually became a full-time speaker, travelling around the world to share her story and her deep appreciation for America. Hansi has retired and lives in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
