Halfway across the globe, in the country with the largest Islamic population in the world, God is opening doors for Focus on the Family on enemy ground. January 14th, 2023 marks a historical day for the ministry as we re-establish an Associate office in Indonesia, a country with over 299 million Muslims. Wee Min, Regional Director of Focus Asia, (including Associate offices in Malaysia, Singapore, Mongolia and Taiwan) reported, “This is the first time having so many board members with different professional and church backgrounds. A major, major praise!”
One Man, One Radio, One Indigenous Village: Thousands Saved With no electricity, transportation, or knowledge of God, the Lord used one little black radio and one broadcast station in the middle of Luisa’s indigenous village to share the gospel through Enfoque a la Familia. Decades later, Luisa traveled from Columbia to the first Enfoque a la Familia Summit, and described her memory growing up deep in the Amazon with the Enfoque broadcast, saying: “It was the only sound in the jungle. Before I learned my numbers and letters, Focus on the Family was on my mind.” Luisa went on to describe how ultimately her entire village came to Christ, her father became a missionary trekking with his radio to village after village, and 120 churches have since been planted by Luisa’s parents as a result. What an exponential yield from a single seed!
Something BIG just happened in Puerto Rico! Rezilient Kidz and The Department of Families of Puerto Rico signed a statewide agreement, by order of the governor Pedro Peirluisi, to implement and provide our premier parenting program Raising Highly Capable Kids in 50 sites across the Island. Facilitated by Sixto Porras and Oliver Cardenas, Focus on the Family (Enfoque a la Familia) will implement this to over 5,000 Puerto Rican parents over the next six months. That’s over 30,000 kids that will benefit directly from this program.
Álvaro and Cynthia dated for over six years before starting their dream of being married. Then, just three short years later, Álvaro says that “the problems started.” Cynthia describes, “I remember I arrived at Enfoque a la Familia with a broken heart.” But through Christ–centered counseling, prayer, and even newly discovered church attendance, the couple began the journey to healing.
