There are many different worship styles when it comes to connecting with God. But some methods may work better than others, depending on the unique way that God has wired you!
Connecting With God Through Worship
The book of Psalms is filled with commands to worship God and gives many reasons why we we are called to give adoration to Him. And though we are all called to worship God, we may tend to do it in different ways.
There is no formula to connect with God the “right way.” God has built our brains and bodies to approach his throne in a variety of ways. By recognizing this unique wiring, we can nurture our faith.Â
In his book, Sacred Pathways, pastor Gary Thomas describes different sets of patterns and practices believers may have a preference for in their relationship with God. Most people exhibit a mix of these spiritual learning styles, and if we recognize these, we can find the pathway that allows us to connect best with our Creator.
God desires that we spend time with Him. However, many Christians have grown up believing that there is only one right way to do this. The routine often involves quiet Bible study, daily prayers and going to a church service with upbeat music and a three-point sermon. Now, these are great ways to spend time with God, but there are also many other ways that we can nurture our faith and grow closer to Christ. Recognizing that we have freedom to connect with God in unique ways can open the door to renewed closeness with Christ and spiritual growth.
