What is the Naturalist?
Naturalists love God through His creation. The psalmist was thinking along these lines when he wrote, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork” (Psalm 19:1).Â
Naturalists love being out in nature — camping, listening to birds, looking at flowers and thinking through analogies of relationship through nature. This is where they feel closest to God. They also love journaling, self-study, photography and other creative pursuits.Â

Grow Your Faith
Although it is helpful to discover the easiest way for you to connect with God, this knowledge shouldn’t stop you from growing your faith in other ways. As a Naturalist, you easily connect with God through nature and solitude. However, there may be opportunity for you worship God in other ways. For example, one area you may need to grow in is serving others. As a Naturalist, you may not tend to see the needs of others, because you connect with God in solitude. But, you may be able to worship in a different way and expand your faith by seeking out the needs of others and serving them.Â
Here are some other ways you may want to try connecting with God:
- Â Sensates love God through art and music. Embrace creativity and try incorporating worship music into your time with God.Â
- Activists feel close to God when they stand up for their faith and make a difference in their community. Try serving at a food pantry or pregnancy resource center to be a doer of the word, not only a hearer.Â
- Intellectuals connect with God through their mind. It can be beneficial for everyone to read a book about apologetics or theology to learn more about God and Christianity.Â
